WJEC launches Annual Review

Launching our 2023/24 Annual Review

We are pleased to announce that our 2023/24 Annual Review has been published – providing a snapshot of our successes and achievements during the last academic year.

The publication highlights our progress as we continue to work closely with the education community to enable Wales’ learners to reach their full potential.

Commenting on the Annual Review, Ian Morgan, Chief Executive, said: “This year's Annual Review reflects a period of significant change in Welsh education. It showcases WJEC's pivotal role in designing qualifications that truly reflects Wales' unique educational landscape. Our publication stands as a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and our unwavering commitment to learners. It highlights how we're not just adapting to change, but actively driving it, ensuring that our qualifications remain relevant, inclusive, and forward-thinking. This review demonstrates our dedication to empowering learners and supporting educators in an ever-evolving world.”

Highlights include:

  • Made-for-Wales qualifications: First wave of approved specifications published for teaching from September 2025, developed with crucial input from stakeholders across Wales.

  • WJEC Futures programme: Launch of additional innovative Vocational qualifications including UK’s first Semiconductors and Sustainability suites, opening new pathways for learners.

  • Celebrating inclusivity: Commissioned new Welsh-language translations of classic and modern plays, supporting the curriculum and enriching Welsh-language theatre.
