Innovation Awards 2022 - Shortlist Announced

We are delighted to announce the shortlisted finalists of our annual Innovation Awards.

The Innovation Awards, in partnership with the Welsh Government, encourages young people in Wales to be technologically innovative and celebrates the importance of Design and Technology

The competition recognises the most original project work by students with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards for GCSE, AS level and A level work, alongside awards for Creativity, CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and manufacturing), and Intellectual Property.

The full shortlist (with our judges’ comments) is now available to view here.

Commenting on the shortlist, Jason Cates, Design & Technology Subject Officer at WJEC said:

"The awards are a fantastic way of recognising and celebrating the success of students across Wales. It is amazing to see young people challenging the design of everyday products and discovering solutions to problems we face daily. We were overwhelmed by the standard of entries in this year’s competition - outstanding work! I am very much looking forward to celebrating this work with the students and teachers at our face-to-face Awards ceremony in December.”

Awards Ceremony

Students, teachers and parents from schools and colleges across the country will be invited to our formal Innovations Awards Ceremony in December, where the category winners will be revealed, and the overall winner crowned. Don’t forget to put a reminder in your diary!
