FREE tailored resources to support our Wave 2 Made-for-Wales qualifications

At WJEC, we continue to offer a comprehensive package of support to centres in the delivery of our qualifications. This includes direct access to subject specialists and support teams, nationwide face-to-face and online professional learning opportunities, and FREE digital resources.

As we continue our journey to develop the second wave of our Made-for-Wales qualifications, we are pleased to confirm that our Digital Resources Team will be producing a package of FREE bilingual resources for each subject. The package will mirror the support offered for the first qualification wave and will consist of blended learning resourcesand knowledge organisersfor the second group of qualifications which will be taught from September 2026.

Commenting on our commitment is Melanie Blount, Head of Content Development:

“Feedback to the support resources for the first Wave of our Made-for-Wales qualifications has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are confident that our resources for the second wave will be met with equal enthusiasm.

Our resources have been designed with the Curriculum for Wales in mind, enabling teachers across Wales to adapt them according to their locality and to the needs of their classroom. This allows them to produce resources which resonate and inspire their learners.

Our bilingual resources will be developed by our Subject Teams, in conjunction with curriculum specialists from across Wales and further afield. Each new resource will be designed to support and enhance teaching and learning, with a focus on new topics which are being introduced within these qualifications.”

Responding to feedback

Our decision to produce this package was based on a comprehensive survey which was issued to all centres across Wales in 2023. The results revealed that the majority of respondents chose editable blended learning and knowledge organisers as their preferred resources to support teaching and learning.

Editable resources

Each resource will be designed to support the ethos of the Curriculum for Wales, by enabling users to edit the resources and tailor them according to their local area. This will allow teachers to create a bespoke package of resources which will support a wide breadth of teaching approaches.

In addition to our new package of resources, our existing suite of free digital resources is also available, which covers a range of subjects and topics which remain part of the new suite of Made-for-Wales qualifications.

New website

We recently launched a new Digital Resources website which has been designed to enhance the user experience; key features include:

  • Improved search functionality, where resources can be searched according to level, subject and specification, saving time.
  • Teachers and lecturers will now have access to a personal online resource page where they can access their favourited, edited, or saved resources. This user-friendly dashboard allows for a learner-centred approach, tailoring teaching to each learner and creating a dynamic and engaging environment for personalised learning. Furthermore, this can be accessed using their existing Hwb login details.
  • Each tailored resource will have a unique URL facilitating sharing and home learning. By offering these new and unique functionalities, our Made-for-Wales resources offer teachers and lecturers the opportunity to create personalised, engaging, and inclusive learning experiences, whilst ensuring that the appropriate level of support is offered.

Publication schedule

Our Digital Resources Team will be working at pace to produce these new support materials. These will be published in phases beginning from late autumn 2025, and the full suite of bilingual resources will be available by summer 2026.
