AS in Design & Technology accredited
We are pleased to announce that our reformed AS in Design & Technology has been accredited by Ofqual for first teaching from September 2017 for use in England.
Steve Howells, Subject Officer:
"Our specification will encourage students to integrate and apply the knowledge they have gained from the study of science and mathematics to solve real problems by designing and making products or systems."
Download the specification and sample assessment materials (SAMs).
Our specification consists of two components:
- Design and Technology in the 21st Century – students will develop their knowledge and understanding of technical principles, and designing and making principles.
- Design and make task – students will design and create a product based on a contextual challenge. This will showcase students' knowledge, understanding and skills when designing and making prototypes.
Our specification has been developed in consultation with teachers and subject leaders. Where appropriate, content has been retained and refined from the current WJEC specification. This will enable teachers to build on good practice and to continue to use a number of their current teaching resources.
Our GCSE in Design & Technology has been accredited by Ofqual, download the specification and SAMs.
We will be resubmitting our A level specification for accreditation from Ofqual shortly. View our draft reformed A level specification and SAMs.
